In San Antonio, there are a number of places you can take your vehicle to get an oil change. While all these numerous places may perform oil changes the quality of service is not equal. At a quick oil change station, they promote they can do your oil change in as little as 15 minutes and an inexpensive price. While this may seem appealing to most people it may actually not be beneficial to you or your vehicle.

When you get an oil change the oil filter must be replaced as well. At a quick oil change station, they are going to use an aftermarket filter. These aftermarket filters have no required testing and original equipment manufacturers do not provide full disclosure of the specifications for these filters. Leaving aftermarket manufactures guessing the correct specification to build oil filters. Some people have experienced major engine damage from using inferior oil filter. While these filters may be cheaper it could cost you much more in the long run.

The technicians that perform your oil change at quick stations typically have limited training and experience outside of performing oil changes. This means that they won’t be able to notice and alert you to potential future problems like a trained, experienced, ASE certified technician would be able to. Furthermore, because they are focused on getting you in and out quickly they do not perform a complete inspection of the vehicle. Yet, preventative maintenance is one of the most important preventative measures you can take when it comes to your vehicle.
