What to Expect at Your Next Auto Maintenance Service

What to Expect at Your Next Auto Maintenance Service

It is a common misconception that getting an auto maintenance service done on your car involves only a simple oil change. However, maintenance services include so much more than just an oil change. Depending on the manufacturer of your vehicle, there are specific maintenance service intervals that should be followed to give your vehicle a long life.

Maintenance for European Vehicles

If you are a Mercedes-Benz owner, you will have maintenance intervals such as “A” Service, “B” Service and so on. There is not a precise list of services for these maintenance services.  Instead, your Mercedes’ computer provides the list of recommended maintenance services needed.  These items will be based upon mileage driven and your own driving habits. Therefore, when you bring your Mercedes in for a maintenance service, a technician must read the car’s computer first to determine the exact maintenance services that must be performed. This is also the case for many other European vehicles such as Audi, Volkswagen, and BMW.

Maintenance for American & Asian Vehicles

If you drive an American or Asian vehicle,  your maintenance intervals will be based on mileage. Each manufacturer will have a defined maintenance schedule for your vehicle based on different mileage intervals. For example, Lexus recommends scheduled maintenance be performed at 6-month/5,000-mile intervals. Ford recommends scheduled maintenance be performed at 7,500-mile intervals for a 2010 Mustang and each service schedule adjusts for other years and models. To learn about the recommended intervals for your vehicle, fill out the form below.
